Beautiful Japanese Ornament -Meguro Gajoen

Meguro Gajoen is the first general wedding hall in Japan offering hotel and restaurant with the great hospitality since establishment.

Gajoen has often been called ‘fairy tale Palace of Dragon King in Showa era’ for its extraordinary gorgeous ornament. Hundreds of professional artists gathered when Gojoen was built, and produced wish of common people out of touch with reality.

The stairway of 100 steps “Hyakudan Kaidan” were selected as one of tangible properties of Tokyo, which is also well known for a model for bath building appeared in Film ‘Spirited Away’ by Studio Ghibli. At 100 steps, events are took place through a year, Hinamatsuri (doll festival) exhibition and flower exhibition and so on. (Admission fee is needed). Painting on framed sliding door and intricate painted ceiling with ornament of great depth is worthy to see. Elevator costing one hundred million yen uses beautiful silver-lipped pearl oyster inlaid in black lacquer.
