The Year of the Monkey 2016
Hello, I am owner of FEEL TOKYO.
2016 is the year of the monkey in Chinese zodiac, so it’s about monkey.
“See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil. ” is also known as “three wise monkeys”.
It is a traditional saying in Chinese and Japanese culture, but it seems this phrase is common in the world.
As the saying goes, “three monkeys of Gandhi” in India and “Four monkeys” in some contries.
Speaking of three wise monkeys,
Nikko Toshogu(日光東照宮)in Tochigi prefecture is famous in Japan.
Out of 5173 beautiful carvings in this Shrine, this carving of three monkeys is the symbol of Nikko Toshugu.
Nikko Toshugu is the great palce having history over 400 years and very popular sightseeing spot.
It’s about 2 hours access by train from the central of Tokyo.
If you want to see wild Japanese monkeys,
Snow Monkey Mountain named Jigokudani Yaen Koen (地獄谷野猿公苑)in Nagano prefecture is an exiting place.
It is said that approx.50 wild Japanese monkeys usually come to get into a hot spring in winter!
This place also get attention from overseas tourists.
